lavender and gray, for narrator and small ensemble

Written and premiered in collaboration with poet Erica Cheung as part of “synesthesia: poetry+music” in April 2018, a concert of interdisciplinary works featuring original music by Rice composers and original texts by Rice writers.

“lavender and gray” is a setting of Erica Cheung’s poem “synesthesia,” which is published in her book “We Who Are Not Native.”
